Reflective Writing

In this class I learned a lot about myself. This class has helped me to grow as a person and go outside of my comfort zone. There was a lot of group work, almost the entire semester was working in a group. This was very different then most of my other classes. We are usually assigned individual assigns but in this class the majority of our work was done in our group. It posed a little bit of a challenge for me sometimes because I am use to just doing the work myself and getting things done my way. When you are in a group you get to think outside of your box or comfort zone which is fun but it can also be a little scary. I definitely liked that fact that I got the chance to meet new people. It was a really good way to break the awkwardness at the beginning of class. I really liked the fact that my teacher did not have a textbook. Instead of paying for and overpriced book and just reading out of it the whole semester, we got to enter act and learn from each other and our ideas. In some cases you buy the book and you only use it once or twice the whole semester, so it was a big money saver. The textbook was not missed in this class.

The thing I am going to remember most about this class is the environment. It was a very relaxed, easy going, no judgement kind of environment. This made it so easy to feel comfortable and to speak up and not feel like what you said was unintellectual or dumb. The other thing I am going to remember most is my teacher, Charlotte Howe. She is such a kind hearted individual. From the first day to the last she was always encouraging you or doing things that she knew would help you. I felt like she is someone that does anything she can to see all of her students succeed. She is by far one of the best teacher I have ever had. Even her teaching skills are not your typical teaching skills so it makes you think outside of the box. It was such a great class and I am by far further in my thinking skills then I have ever been.

This class, I felt like let you be a free spirit and express yourself. I think a lot of other classes just expect you to do the requirement and then move on to the next class, but in Howe’s class I felt like I got to show a lot more of who I was. We did online magazines in our groups that we put all of our papers on so other people could view the work that we did in class. It made my work feel a lot more appreciated  and that it was good enough to be viewed by others. Most of the work you do only gets seem by the teachers. Howe’s 2010 english was a learning experience and I will definitely not forget it.
